We did it........but not without some tears!
Well, we made the journey in the most horrendous of downpours although we finished just outside of our time...9 hours and 56 seconds. It was a cold, wet and mostly painful experience...but I'm still pleased that we did it! Full report here soon News.

The Costa to Costa Challenge will start at 08:00 on Saturday 6th August in Whitehaven harbour followed by a quick espresso at Whitehaven Costa Coffee shop. We then have 8 hours and 50 minutes to cycle the 130 miles to Sunderland pier, following the classic Coast to Coast route before dashing back to Costa at Waterstones in Sunderland for last orders at 17:00.

The route
This is by no means an easy challenge as the route takes us up and over Whinlatter Pass in the Lake District, Hartside in the Pennines and Black Hill, at 609m, the highest point on the National Cycle Network. We will be riding on road bikes and therefore where the classic route takes in tracks, we will follow the main road. For maps and details, see The route.

The team
Taking up this challenge are a veritable Who's Who from British Multisport - find out more about The Team.

 |
 |
The support teams
On the day, the riders will be admirably supported by a backup team of support vehicles and drivers. In training, they will be joined by other riders helping them to prepare physically for the challenge. Meet The support teams.

 |
 |
The aim
The objectives are twofold. Firstly this is a test of endurance and disciplined riding. Each member of the team is trained to compete individually and will require patience, team spirit and a high degree of physical and mental motivation to successfully complete this group ride.
Secondly, this is a fund raising exercise in aid of Help for Heroes whose successful charity work has improved the lives of thousands of ex-servicemen and women, all of whom have put their lives on the line in the defence of our country.

Please therefore give generously to this excellent cause either through our Just Giving site (see link below) or collect your pennies in a tin and bring them to me. Together we can ensure the proceeds go towards making better lives for those in need.
Thank you
